Generation XIV

Henry Isham Jr.

1653–1678

Life

Henry Isham of Henrico County, Virginia, was son of Henry Isham and Katherine Banks.1 In his will of 13 June 1676, Thomas Isham of the Middle Temple left a legacy to the heir of his cousin german Henry Isham on condition that he spend a whole year in England; Northamptonshire Families relates that the younger Henry died on his return voyage after completing that year.2,1

Henry Isham's own will, dated 13 November 1678, was proved in London on 5 June 1680.3 He was never married.1 He left legacies to his half-brother Joseph Royall, his mother Mrs Katherine Isham, and his sisters Mrs Mary Randolph and Mrs Anne Isham.3,1 He bequeathed his plantation called Doggams in Charles City County to his sisters Mary and Anne, and the residue of his estate in Virginia and England to his executor William Randolph.3,1 He was probably the last male of the elder line of the Ishams of Pytchley.1
